Trade fair photography and video for your business

Plan trade fair photography and video for your business. Lessons from Energia 2026 in Tampere, with practical advice on coverage, deliverables and timing.

In this article

At a trade fair, many things happen at once. Conversations start at the stand, someone stops to ask about a product and the next meeting is already taking shape. For a business, the day can be full of moments worth remembering, with little time to pick up a camera.

For me, the most interesting part of photographing an event is the people and what happens between them. The stand, products and visual identity belong in the story too. Often, though, the story starts to open up when someone arrives and a conversation begins.

I photographed and filmed for Energen Nordic Oy and EP Energy at Energia 2026 in Tampere, Finland. In this article, I share how photography and video can work together at a trade fair and what a business should consider before the shoot.

Trade fair photography tells a business’s story through people

A great deal of thought can go into an exhibition stand. It needs to make a business recognisable and give visitors a reason to stop. The space, colours and details deserve attention in the photographs. Still, my eye naturally returns to the encounters.

An attentive expression. A small group gathering around a product. Hands pointing something out in a brochure. These moments often have a great deal to say.

The Energia 2026 photographs show people and conversations within the exhibition setting. I want to preserve the feeling of the situation while finding a clear visual idea within it. Light, framing and colour can create atmosphere even in a busy exhibition hall.

Photography and video from the same trade fair

A photograph holds a moment still and gives us time to look. Video adds movement and rhythm. They offer different ways to tell the story of the same event.

For a business, photographs might support an event recap, a website news article or communications about a future exhibition. Video could become a short highlights film or a set of focused social media pieces. These are possible uses; the scope of each assignment is agreed with the client.

Combining the two makes planning particularly important. Photography and video each need attention. If a business needs uninterrupted coverage of a presentation and photographs elsewhere in the hall at the same time, the production needs enough people to cover both.

My assignment for Energen Nordic and EP Energy included both formats. The case study brings the visual work together, with more material to be added as it becomes ready.

What should a business agree before booking trade fair coverage?

A useful starting question is: what would you like to show after the event? The answer helps us decide where to spend the shooting time and what to create.

When planning a trade fair shoot, I like to discuss:

  • Key people and moments. Who needs to appear? Are there demonstrations, presentations or meetings that happen at a fixed time?
  • The business and its products. Which products, details and brand elements should be included?
  • Publication channels. Will you use the material on your website, LinkedIn, other social channels or in advertising? It helps to know about vertical and horizontal versions before shooting.
  • Deliverables and timing. Do you need material during the event or a finished collection afterwards? Image quantities, video lengths and delivery dates are agreed in advance.
  • Usage and arrangements. We agree the intended scope of use and review the organiser’s photography instructions and any situations that should remain off camera.

You do not need a finished shot list. Tell me about the event, your objective and where the material will be used. I can suggest an approach from there.

Small gestures and shared attention are part of the event’s story too.

What can one trade fair day contribute to your communications?

I also think about a shoot in terms of what happens to the material afterwards. One day at a trade fair can provide several angles: the people you met, what the business presented and the ideas the day brought up.

A photo carousel can move from the setting to encounters and details. A video can tell its own concise story. If an interview or an expert contribution is part of the plan, it is worth discussing beforehand: sound and a suitable recording location need attention too.

There is no need to do everything at once. We can choose the content you actually need and allow enough time to make it well. A useful image often starts with decisions made before the camera comes out.

How much does trade fair photography and video cost?

The price depends on coverage time, the scope of photography and video, post-production, delivered versions, usage rights and any travel or additional crew. A short shoot at one stand and a full day of photography and video are different-sized assignments.

For a proposal, the most useful details are the event location and date, the required shooting time and an initial idea of the photographs and videos you need. If you already have a budget, it helps us choose a practical scope.

A trade fair photographer in Tampere, Turku and across Finland

I work from Turku, travelling to wherever the story takes me. Energia 2026 brought me to Tampere. For your business’s next exhibition, we can plan photography, video or both as parts of the same assignment.

I want the images and videos to feel connected to the business and the people behind it. There is room for a strong visual identity and a cinematic atmosphere, alongside a clear sense of what the image is saying.

If your business is attending a trade fair or organising an event, tell me about it. We can start with what you would like to show afterwards.
