What can one shoot day create for your business marketing?

Plan a business content day with photography and short-form video. Explore the Content Day package, real projects and practical advice for your marketing.

In this article

There is a great deal in a business’s everyday work that could be shared more often. People do their jobs, products are used and customers get help. Yet when it is time to publish something on a website or social media, the right photograph or video is not always available.

For me, a useful shoot starts with understanding that need. What should people see about the business? What makes its work interesting? Where will the material actually be used?

One shoot day can bring together photography and video for your marketing. The approach works best when the different pieces follow a shared idea and there is enough time to make them well.

What can a business create during one shoot day?

A shoot can focus on people, products, services and the environment they belong in. We can choose the elements that help your business tell its story more clearly, with a practical scope for the day.

  • Portraits and people at work. The people behind the business, interactions and everyday work.
  • Product and service photography. What you offer, how it is used and the details that deserve attention.
  • Spaces and surroundings. A shop, workplace or another setting that makes your business tangible.
  • Short-form videos. For example, a service introduction, a product in use or a small story built around a process.
  • Agreed versions for different channels. We might plan website photographs and vertical social media video around the same subject.

Deliverables are agreed in advance. Interviews, several locations or a carefully staged commercial film each need their own time. Their effect on the scope is worth considering during planning.

A shared idea brings photography and video together

For me, a strong visual style connects with what an image is trying to say. Colour, light and a cinematic atmosphere can make content recognisable, while still feeling right for the business.

To introduce a service, we could follow its progression: where the customer starts, what happens during the work and the outcome. The same situations can provide photographs and moving images for different uses. A short video might follow the process, while a photograph draws attention to a person or detail.

Knowing which situations need both formats before the shoot helps the day run with purpose. It also gives the finished work a common direction.

Content Day: photography and video in one production

Photo + Video Content Day is designed for businesses that need both formats for their own channels. The current package includes:

  • A collaborative production plan.
  • Six hours of combined photography and video production.
  • 4–6 finished short-form videos.
  • At least 50 finished photographs.
  • Editing and colour grading, with material tailored to the agreed channels and formats.
  • Commercial usage rights within the agreed scope.

The shoot day is one part of the production. Planning and post-production turn it into a finished collection. The delivery schedule, detailed scope and usage are agreed before production.

How can one assignment meet several communication needs?

My work includes different examples of bringing several needs together in one assignment. The scope and deliverables for each of these projects were agreed separately.

Veke Home: people and a retail space in one collection

For Veke Home Oy’s new Raisio store, I photographed the staff and the building’s interiors and exterior. The portraits were needed for online use and staff ID cards, while the spatial photographs focused on the store and its displays.

This was a photography assignment. It shows why it helps to consider a business’s image needs together: the people and their surroundings build a broader picture of the company.

Energia 2026: a trade fair in photographs and video

My coverage for Energen Nordic Oy and EP Energy combined event photography and video content. A trade fair provides its own setting: the people, conversations and business presence are already there. The photographer’s task is to find a story within them.

Working at an event differs from arranging situations for a planned shoot. The same question helps with both: where will the material be needed afterwards?

How long can content from one shoot day last?

That depends on your publication rhythm and the subjects we have covered. A collection of 50 photographs may include alternative compositions and several images belonging to one story. They might work together in a carousel, across a website page or as individual publications.

During planning, we could choose one subject to introduce a service, another to show the people behind the work and a third to focus on a product or process. The content then serves different purposes while sharing a visual identity.

I would not promise a fixed number of weeks based on image quantity alone. I would rather understand what your communications need to achieve and which material will make the work easier. Copywriting, publication scheduling and channel management are separate services to agree if needed.

What do we need before the shoot?

You do not need a finished script before getting in touch. A few details help us plan:

  • Which product, service or message matters most right now?
  • Who is the audience, and where will the content be published?
  • Who will appear, where will we shoot and when is the space available?
  • Do you need speech, interviews, advertising versions or other content that needs separate preparation?
  • When do you need the finished material?

We use this to build a shooting plan and agree the deliverables and usage rights. Advertising, music, subtitles and version requirements are useful to discuss at this stage too.

A one-off content day or an ongoing partnership?

A single content day suits a defined need: introducing a new service, refreshing website imagery or producing material for an upcoming campaign.

If your products, seasons and communication needs change regularly, several planned shoots may serve you better. The content can develop as we work together, with the next shoot’s priorities informed by how the material is being used.

Production for your business’s own channels and commercial collaborations published on my channels are agreed separately. I explain the difference in Content production or a commercial collaboration?
